You will be working on both the technical and managerial aspects of projects, overseeing construction inspections, conducting surveys, and ensuring quality across all deliverables. Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage multiple new construction and refit projects simultaneously.
  • Conduct engineering systems drawing reviews and provide feedback.
  • Lead construction inspections for both steel and alloy structures.
  • Perform condition surveys and acceptance testing.
  • Work within shipyards, liaising with contractors and shipbuilders professionally.
  • Write and deliver clear, concise technical reports.
  • Engage in AVIT systems where required.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and meeting quality standards.
  • Organise and prioritise workload effectively, working independently when required.
  • Travel across Europe as needed, with flexibility to attend last-minute meetings or site inspections.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in project management within the maritime, shipbuilding, or yachting sectors.
  • Experience with new construction and refit projects.
  • Strong understanding of engineering systems, steel/alloy construction inspections, and general maritime systems.
  • Experience conducting surveys (condition, acceptance testing).
  • Knowledge of AVIT systems is highly desirable.
  • Previous experience in the shipyard environment, maintaining professionalism at all times.
  • Strong written communication skills for report writing.
  • Self-motivated, well-organised, and capable of multi-tasking and prioritising.
  • Willingness to travel throughout Europe, sometimes at short notice.
  • Based in South of England for office collaboration with the team.
  • Y1 yacht ticket or unlimited ticket (bonus), surveying qualifications highly preferred.

Desired Traits:

  • A sense of humour and the ability to work in a high-pressure environment without taking yourself too seriously.
  • Well-presented and professional, able to represent the company confidently in shipyards and at client meetings.
  • Flexible and adaptable, willing to travel and be on-site at short notice, even on weekends if required.

This isn't your bulk standard Technical Manager role - its far more varied and much more interesting!!!
