Technical Manager – Yacht Fleet Support (USA-Based)
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Technical Manager to join our team supporting a designated fleet of yachts. This role offers a varied and dynamic working environment, with responsibilities spanning technical oversight, operational support, and budget management.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Technical Defect Support

Advise and support yachts on limiting and resolving technical and ISM-related defects

Liaise with crew to determine effective solutions and closure timelines

Provide expert recommendations for resolving technical issues
2. Operational Fleet Support

Assist in planning and managing yacht maintenance activities

Ensure Planned Maintenance Systems are fully implemented and used effectively

Identify areas for improvement in maintenance strategy and propose practical solutions

Advise on efficient operations and cost-saving opportunities (in collaboration with procurement)

Provide urgent technical assistance when required
3. Technical Reporting & Risk Forecasting

Prepare executive summaries on fleet technical status and future forecasts

Highlight major works that may impact availability or performance

Escalate significant technical risks or trends across the fleet to senior management
4. Stakeholder Communication

Maintain strong working relationships with crew and relevant internal teams

Engage with Owners Representatives and other stakeholders as needed

Communicate regularly to ensure a clear picture of each yacht’s technical status
5. Budget Support

Maintain oversight of the annual technical budget for each yacht

Assist Client and Yacht Account Managers in reviewing technical quotes, invoices, and purchase orders upon request
Qualifications & Experience:

Degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or Project Management

Minimum 3 years’ shore-based experience in maritime management, or seagoing experience as Chief/Second Engineer

Fluent in English with strong verbal and written communication skills

Familiarity with marine inspection, surveys, and auditing standards

Proficient in MS Office and Planned Maintenance Systems

Able and willing to travel frequently as needed
